Maybe it was an off day since this was rates as one of Lakeland’s top 10 restaurants. Was surprised they didn’t offer grouper and other native Florida fish - just catfish, tilapia, salmon & rainbow trout. The high point was the dessert - great bread pudding & lots of it. The tartar sauce was odd as well -thin and runny. The pink dip for the hushpuppies was more like 1000 island dressing than anything I’ve had elsewhere. We recognize this type of breading may be popular in other areas of U.S. We didn’t care for the very coarse breading on the fish - very coarse cornmeal and spices cooked a little too much so kind of like having your fish rolled in sand. $48 with tax and 15% tip - couldn’t do 20 with the order problems, delay on ketchup and no offer to refill tea while dining. We both had iced tea and shared a bread pudding for dessert. This was my first visit to the restaurant. The hushpuppies came and I again asked for the ketchup. My only complaint would be they need to add more choices to the menu Amanda Ohls. mentioned the hushpuppies I had ordered & asked for ketchup for the fries. I asked to subsitute hushpuppies for the slaw. We both ordered the half portion of fried catfish. I would definitely recommend Fish City Grill to all of my family and friends and to anyone who wants a great dinning experience. The food was delicious too! She even made some accommodations for my picky eaters that wasn't on the menu. I don't often see managers engage with their staff or the customers like this, but that manager is a rarity. She is awesome! I know the staff there are happy. The manager Sarah went above and beyond to not only make us feel comfortable but she also supported her staff in the same manner. We changed our minds a couple times as our picky eaters sometimes do and they changed out our food and drinks with a smile and without questions. we stand out, the management and servers never once made us feel like we were different. I have children with autism and although. I was a little worried with it being so full. I had an amazing experience at Fish City Grill! The staff are amazing and so friendly.
